Alessandro Morbidelli presents Wave Abyss. Hypatia

As previously announced ( here), comes out these days, for the types of Van Gogh's Ear, the anthology " Wave Abyss," which collects thirty of the mystery stories linked by a unique background: the sea. The volume also includes a story I wrote for that purpose. I interviewed Alessandro Morbidelli, curator anthology, because we found the volume.

Hello Alex, tell us how did the idea Wave anthology of the abyss?
I believe that every person born and raised not far from the sea feel, at some point in their lives, due to nature. Maybe for all emotions, all silent, all episodes lived in close contact with an environment that is fluid and magical, eye-catching and pinned him to another dimension. A slot to scan the world soul, his being primitive and perfect. " Wave Abyss" was born because I wanted to talk about the sea and wanted them to be in a lot of talking about it. Born because I felt in debt and not just with the sea, but also with the literature that accompanied me as a child. Danilo Arona, which also participates in the anthology with a story beautiful and disturbing, reminded me a few days ago as the narrative "on sea" is one of the founding myths of the great Italian. If we think of some weird literature from the early twentieth century, but even before we realize how the sea is a literary source of a striking visual power. The man is attracted by the unknown as much restlessness. " Wave Abyss" is a further look, a glimpse from the cliff, toward the waves, alla ricerca della paura e di noi stessi.

Alla luce of its importance to you personally and as a leitmotif of the work, as the sea is covered in the anthology?
The sea, in "Wave Deep", is described from the eyes of the man who says, be it a first-person narrator or narrator outside. It was with the man who is related, in its three stages in which man and the sea become one, so I divided the anthology into three sections: the first is devoted to the relationship between man and the sea does not yet exist when the physical contact between the two and is called " sides." Here is narrated mostly the game looks more or less threatening, that the two exchange the dawn of time. A second section covers " Surfaces" and is therefore inevitable reference to seafaring epics that have characterized so much a certain type of literature, but not limited to: the contact is only mentioned, brushing against one who denies complacency and at the same time a lost in the desert. The third category, " Abyss", involves a total immersion in the mystery, the unknown of a world that is almost completely unknown to this day. The report is full and ripe, deep and physical. There is no longer able to go back. The authors who participated in the anthology have taken this aspect Project el'hanno enhanced with their own suggestions. This is undoubtedly the strength of "Wave Abyss."

We can say that Onda D'Abyss is a work of genre? In
Wave Abyss is the fantastic story, what horror, one related to some inspiration derived from authors like HP Lovecraft and EA Poe, but there is adventure, romance and science fiction news. Maybe call it weird new , if you really want to define in a way, is the right thing to do.

How was the selection of authors, and what guidance were provided to them?
I sent invitations to many authors I knew and that thanks to the mixing of worlds for excellence that is Facebook (not to advertise, so it's free) I was able to find quite easily. Many of the authors are part of the Literary Carbonari, a laboratory, to which I belong, which in the past has proposed publishing interesting and these days comes with a work whose stories are inspired by triplets of Dante's Inferno ( Men apart, Eclipse editor). Other teachers have accepted with pleasure to participate because of the peculiarity of the project, and I was filled with deep joy. With some of they had collaborated on the cult- small anthology edited by Demian Bloody Hell, others I contacted them, thanks to some knowledge that has been very useful here. Valerio Evangelisti, then, gave me a gift of his piece, I did develop and "rearrange" the writer collective Pelagius D'Afro, clearly inspired by Lovecraftian I could not hope for better. I take this opportunity to thank all the authors who have participated and even those who have not been part of the project but who have deigned to answer me "spades" with a simple email.

What are the next events for the presentation of the volume?
On July 29, will present a preview " Wave Abyss" in Marzocca of Senigallia (AN). The presentation was part of an annual festival called " Art of Love", but organizers were so impressed by the anthology who have decided to dedicate an exclusive evening at Wave, with music, readings and screening of photographs dedicated Mark Prior to the Sea master, who with his photographic art took in the atmosphere full anthology. I would like to thank him for having given her a shot to the back cover and he appreciated that the cover itself, that is my work.

Una vicenda frizzante, che però vorrebbe focus attention on the subject of the sick through the faces of those who dedicate their time to these: the victims, heroes, murderers, we're all in this together.
