-The success of "The Shadow of the Wind" has created an expectation and a warm welcome to 'The game of the angel. " I do not venture to say that a novel has met most of the other rating. "The Shadow of the Wind" is already eight years in the libraries of North America and continues to be an extraordinary response. "Playing the Angel" is available from just a year and now we will launch the paperback edition, which is played on the real battle of the bottom of the North American market. —Come trascorre la giornata uno scrittore a Los Angeles?
—Immagino in modo simile a quanto farebbe a Londra, Parigi o Móstoles ( piccolo paese dei dintorni di Madrid, ndt ). Non saprei. Forse con un po’ più di sole, e magari un po’ più di distanza da taluni rumori mondani che distraggono e ti sottraggono al lavoro e al vivere la propria vita. Buona parte della vita di uno scrittore si svolge nel suo cervello e questo non è diverso a seconda che ci si trovi in California o sui Pirenei aragonesi.
—E come vede Barcellona da Los Angeles? In questi giorni, ad esempio, si sta scavando al di sotto della Sagrada Familia un tunnel per il Treno ad Alta Velocità… Molti temono per il Tempio di Gaudí…

—Un’altra polemica tutta barcellonese è che si vuole proibire le corride dei tori per legge, e inoltre hanno iniziato a convertire la Diagonal (un grande viale di Barcelona, ndt) in una zona pedonale con tranvia elettrica, spostando tutto il traffico verso l’Ensanche…
—Forse sarà per la paura che il toro possa prendere qualcuno, che già andrebbe bene. La storia della Diagonal e dei tram suppongo sia un grande piano di pensionamento a carico del contribuente. O così sembra. Spero che sia semplicemente un’idea assurda morta sul nascere.
