Amos 1
Giudizio di Dio su sette popoli vicini d'Israele, e sopra Israele stesso
1 Parole di Amos, uno dei pastori di Tekoa, rivelategli in visione, intorno ad Israele, ai giorni di Uzzia, re di Giuda, e ai giorni di Geroboamo, figliuolo di Joas, re d'Israele, due anni prima del terremoto.
2 Egli disse:
L'Eterno rugge da Sion, e fa risonar la sua voce da Gerusalemme; i pascoli dei pastori fanno cordoglio, e la vetta del Carmelo è inaridita.
3 Così parla l'Eterno: Per three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment. Amos 2
1 Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment. Che diritto abbiamo noi di fermare i giudizi di Dio e avvalerci della facoltà di dire che sono ingiusti oppure no? Il problema dell'uomo è che mentre il resto della creazione di piega dinanzi dall'Altissimo, noi abbiamo un orgoglio dentro che non ci fa capire che senza la misericordia dell'Eterno, noi non avremmo nemmeno la vita.
L'essere umano colpevolizza Dio e pensa di poter vivere senza di lui, ma intanto il mondo va a rotoli e il futuro, sì, promises great scientific and technological achievements, but it lacks the most important thing: the health of the soul!

Ecco dove sta la grandezza dell'Eterno! L'umanità lo fa tribolare, eccome se lo fa tribolare! Egli però si ricorda che siamo polvere e allunga la sua benignità e la sua grazia verso di noi.
Con cosa contraccambieremo noi tutto questo? Gli porteremo forse i suoi stessi frutti? Certamente no, ma il pentimento del cuore è la cosa più preziosa che gli possiamo dare.
3 e sterminerò di mezzo ad esso il giudice, e ucciderò tutti i suoi capi con lui, dice l'Eterno.
